Abstract
Background and Aims: Investigating the impact of the environment on crime prevention in urban spaces is an important issue that shows the necessity of paying attention to crime prevention measures in the field of urban development. The subject plan is a combination of urban planning and criminology topics, a new look for a better understanding of crime prevention methods and identification of new methods, in accordance with the needs and necessity of the society. The cities of Shiraz and Isfahan.
Materials and methods: In the first stage, by studying the background of the research and by interviewing experts, the effective components in crime prevention were identified and eight variables: "Urban Planning", "Urban Design", "Environmental Design", "Able Defense of the place", "Security measures", "Crime opportunity reduction", "Urban land use changes", "Public policy" have been extracted as independent variables and "Crime prevention" as a dependent variable..

Findings: The origin of crime in urban and social environments should be sought in urban structures, which, if there is a spatial base, provides the background for the occurrence of crime and its repetition, and over time, a geographical environment becomes a center of crime. It changes. Based on this, finding a place-based model for crime prevention in the cities of Shiraz and Isfahan indicates the adoption of a new model from the point of view of urban design and urban planning measures.
Result: The analysis of averages shows that in Shiraz city, urban planning variable and urban design variable have the highest value in crime prevention, and in Isfahan city, security and policy measures have the highest value. Based on this, it is important to adopt two different approaches to prevent crime in two cities.
